Uluru (Ayers Rock)

Uluru, symbol of Australia
rock scenes around UluruThe Aboriginal word 'Uluru' means 'shady place'. That's very true, especially when comparing with the surrounding flat countryside.

The rock is not as monolithic as it seems, there are many cracks, overhangs and niches, some of the very scenic. After having a walk around a bit of the base one can imagine there are many sites not yet know to white people, many more nobody ever photographed before. Most of the places are free for photography, but some are not. In the honour of Aboriginal tradions one really should leave it - there are always some memories one has to store in one's mind rather than the camera.

We stayed in the Lost Camel Resort.
