Avoiding the Gold coast we first went to Lamington National Park, were I left for half a day to visit Deb and Tiger. Then we left via Brisbane for Hervey Bay and a day on Fraser island. We took the airplane from Bundaberg to go to Lady Elliot island on the south end of the Great Barrier Reef. Back on the mainland we spend a night in Yeppon to go on to the Whitsundays for 2 nights. On the way to Mission Beach I left the bus another time to visit Kay in Townsville. We reached our northernmost point in Port Douglas to follow the coastline back to Cairns, where the first part of the tour ended and the airplane to Alice Springs departed. |
