Celery Top Pine

Celery-Top Pine

The Celery-top pine is an endemic gymnosperm of Tasmania. I have not seen it very often, this one is from the Cradle Mountain visitors area. But if one comes across them, the "leaves are unmistakable". But in fact, they are no leaves at all. The visible green parts are stems and twigs that took over the job of assimilation. See the brown spots of less than a Millimeter? That's the REAL leaves.
